John Bertaina’s Bio

Attended CSM from 1965 to 1967.  Chico State 1967 to 1970.  Received Teaching Creditial.  History Major and minors in Math and Philosophy.

Married in 1973.  Taught in Merced from 1972 to 1982.

Children:  David now married to Cheryl, a Professor at Illinois Univ. in Springfield.

2 grandchildren, Joseph and Anna.

Jill now married to Davide and lives in Bologna, Italy.  One grandson Caleb.

Andrew married to Stephanie living in D.C.  Child expected this November!

Divorced in 1983.  Moved to San Jose.  Remarried in 1985.

Children: Shyly with husband Brandon. Grandkids: Jakob, Shelli and Kayson

Jessica with husband Chris lives in Atwater.  Grandkids Makayla and Ayden and another due in September.

Divorced in 1992 - 2nd time!

6 Kids and 9 Grandkids!!!

Taught in San Jose till 2004 then took “golden handshake” retirement

Have traveled to Europe four times in last four years - Italy, Slovenia, Switzerland, Croatia, Germany, etc.

Currently live with 2 cats - Smokey and Julius

Do daily hikes of 4 to 5 miles in a nearby county park.  Love to read and travel.

Leave for Canada in May/June - Calgary and Winnipeg
